A Viewer Writes: FIRE FIGHTERS

Joe, I have for months went to get groceries on TUESDAYS around 2-3 and there are 3-4 FIREFIGHTERS walking around the grocery store, with the truck on the street with no occupants, with approx15 things in their cart. Why does it take that many when there is a utility vehicle at the station?. Also they walk right past vehicles parked in MARKED FIRE LAND NO PARKING and says nothing or write them a ticket? That was told to me they have that right , since that is part of their job. As a TAX PAYER it pisses me off they refuse to do their job considering it is a PUBLIC SAFETY issue. As much as they ride around they could add to the money fund and be totally rely on the COUNTY / STATE for their toys

  1. I’m with you! They shouldn’t be allowed to eat or be in the vehicle they might have to take to a fire. Just crazy.

  2. Sounds to me you envy the firefighters job, we all do until you have to risk your life and get paid shit for the work you do. But hey, lets complain about them working 24 hrs and maybe needing food. I mean sure why not, Im sure you can go 24 hrs with out food.

By the way firefighters DONT write citations, that for the PoPo – so maybe next article can be about how cops cant write parking violations, while they are running down shootings.

Pick another battle dude, tax paying how about we pay taxes on illegals that get FREE health care, FREE education, and reduced or no rent – the Demoncrap way.

  3. I personally despise unauthorized people who park in fire lanes. I believe there should be a mandatory law that permits the police to tow any unauthorized vehicles parked in fire lanes, whether the vehicle is occupied or not. Or, how about raising the fine for fire lane violations to $500? Parking lots have marked handicap parking spaces for individuals who need those spots and I believe the majority of people needing those spaces do use them. Many businesses also offer loading and unloading zones, which are not the same as fire lanes. It’s the lazy and arrogant individuals who feel they don’t have to abide by laws like the majority of society does. Many of these same idiots will park directly in front of or adjacent to the no parking – fire lanes signs.

  4. I dont believe fire fighters can write parking tickets. so think of it this way…if the grocery store catches on fire, all they have to do is walk outside and turn their lights on. its a win win for everyone!

  5. This has been a LONG standing complaint and it is met with nothing but excuse after excuse.

While at an event, I was standing in front of a flock of them going on and on how they are so special and deserve to not pay property tax. So I pondered. how are they any more special than doctors, nurses, 911 operators, teachers, volunteers who also put them selves on the line to save others.

I have more respect for the 911 operator who stayed on the line with me at 1130 PM, while calling for an ambulance as I was scrambling to find someone to come care for my elderly disabled parents that I was about to have to leave alone while I was being carted off to the ER for a heart attack. Her kindness and empathy deeply touched me.

Unlike the ambulance crew that once came and created a total shit show and made the situation worse with their stupidity and arrogance.

I would love to admire them, but their arrogance simply puts them in an ugly light.
Many in the community have voiced their displeasure at their conduct, and they simply think they are above us all.

  6. Could be that a new driver is being trained? Could be that the truck is being tested? Could be the firemen are hungry? I’m glad that you never get hungry.

  7. Why dont you ask them next time you see them and im positive you will receive an answer. May not be the one you “think” you deserve, but you will be more educated afterwards with fact. Not what you think.

Doing their job includes being SEEN in the community even if that includes obtaining supplies from a LOCAL store.

Have the guts to ask next time rather than in a forum.

  8. I know what it is like to work holidays and several other times to miss family gathers and other family gatherings. I knew I was protecting other families. When we had to eat we sent 1 person with a list to run these errands and planned a time to include all the personnel we could at one time. There is no need to send out a work vehicle when their are vehicles labeled CHIEF they could use. I guess riding around the COLLEGE and COLLEGE housing when students are in is part of the job to. What happen to the training area? IS it not being used? Just because they get new equipment does not mean they ride around SALISBURY to get the mileage up. I am going to hate to see the damage incurred by the new LADDER TRUCKS and other equipment that is needed for these GHEETO HOUSINGS they are building.

  9. They all go and take their responding unit with them so if there is a fire call they can drop what they are doing and respond to the call. Non-emergeny driving is a good time for training people to drive fire trucks. This question has been answered a gazillion times over the years.

  10. lmao all the problems in this world and this is yours? must be so nice to have nothing else to worry about!
Why dont you try doing some good? instead of crying?

  11. I don’t think there was an issue with them getting food. Yes, we all know people have to eat. Thank you for pointing out the obvious. Now take a step down off your high horse and re-read the issue. Taking a firetruck to the store to grocery shop. The OP even asks about them having a different utility vehicle to use for this and similar purposes. It would certainly use less gas, take up less space, and make more sense. Unless of course there was no food back at the station and they were returning from a fire and it was a stop on the way back. The post is to raise awareness and allow people an open discussion. Not an attack. There’s enough of that going on in politics everywhere across the US. Leave it out of something where a OP is asking a thoughtful question. And, discuss…

  12. Seen some of these arrogant clowns in acme today! One almost ran into me with his face shoved into a i-pad and looked at me like I am over you gtfo of the way. Salisbury has become a woke city and woke needs a babysitter and thats what 75% of this job entails now.
