I have been scratching my head from the outset of this project trying to discern how the local economy would support this project. Where are these ‘young professionals’ currently? … or will they just suddenly appear once the building is topped out and ready for occupancy??? If Jakobie has visions of turning this into Section 8 housing, we haven’t been blindsided, we have been told to bend over and grab our ankles!!! The notion that college students would be a fertile tenant source away from campus amenities and in the gritty downtown was fanciful to begin with, and never got better.
200 dedicated parking spaces aka bulk of the parking garage? There goes the revenue as well as the spaces for the general public, which owns it. Thought all the tenants were going to be cruising around on bikes, scooters and campus shuttles? Now they need stable space for unicorns!
