Just got our Maryland State and County Real Property tax Assessment for next three years and they’re increasing by a huge amount. I know property values went up for a time, but now everyone knows they’re going down due to increasing interest/mortgage rates as well as all the other economic factors causing people to have less ability to buy houses. Yet somehow we now have to pay as if we were going to be at the market top for the next three years. I guess the gubment can’t understand that real estate is going DOWN, not up. They say you can appeal, but I’m sure they’re just gonna rely on the increased value in recent years without any recognition of the declining value over the past year and projected to continue.

Deal with it! Look, you chose to live in Maryland; it’s no secret that the State of Maryland will tax any and all things imaginable, even rain. You can piss and moan all you want but there is absolutely nothing you can do about it as long as you continue to reside in the People’s Republic of Maryland. I suggest you move to Florida.

It’s definitely a flawed system. Very unfair! The legislators could change the way it’s done but I doubt if there is enough public outcry for that to happen.
Relax. This is the area where people become successful by posting a 10 old high school yearbook photo on a billboard and fight for a percentage of a home sale they had nothing to do with. Commissions go up with assessments to people who had nothing to do with a home sale. Slow sales? Raise taxes to get things going again or reassess. It’s not rocket science.

I cannot afford to move, since I am retired and drawing SSI the DEMON DEMOCRATS are taking away. The many who are bitching voted for these DEMON DEMOCRATS and the RHINO REPUBLICANS, like COMRADE HOGAN, what few there are. A lot of MD citizens will not push no new TAXES and enforce the MD CONSTITUTION on having a BALANCED BUDGET and letting them continue ta raise taxes so they can spend and balance the MD budget.

Hey 8:46…………..You make it sound so simple. Can’t afford to live in MD? Just move! Yeah right. I was born in MD and have never lived anywhere but MD, so it’s not all that easy to just pick up and move out of state, especially when you are retired and on a fixed income and have other family members nearby. A person shouldn’t have to be driven out of their lifelong home state just because some grubby, greedy politicians want to make it unaffordable for us.
