Above are the before and after pictures of the old Powellville Store and Post Office building. The Beachump Brothers have done an incredible job removing this two story building. The debris will be completely gone by this weekend. Next they’ll head directly across the street and remove the old hardware store that has been empty for decades. It has no water and sewer, (never has).
We can’t thank the County enough for helping residents of Powellville from these dilapidated eye sores that are dangerously close to falling down. Many residents have stopped by with great pleasure remarks and thumbs up while they drove by. Two down, four more to go.

I should’ve added, we also appreciate the OWNERS of these properties that have also cooperated with the County as this particular property owner above contracted the Beachump’s to demolish this building at their own expense. Meaning taxpayers didn’t have to foot the bill.
They were ready to fall in the road soon !!! About time !!

It looks so much better. Residents are encouraged to contact the Planning and Zoning Department to push for the other properties to be demolished. This includes the property with the large gray house and adjacent garage. The Marshall family continues to elude the county, residents and tax payers. They will NOT improve these properties despite what they say. The old store with the roof off and bus is just one example. Many residents have called and complained. We will not give up. Pushing forward to protect our community.
