Now that the striped bass closure is in effect until August 1, most anglers in the upper Bay are focusing on catfish and white perch.

In the lower Bay, fishing for speckled trout has seen an upswing and anglers are catching some beautiful fish.

Surf fishing along the Assateague beaches is following a typical pattern of summer species. Kingfish are at the top of the list and are being caught on pieces of bloodworm and scented baits.
