Two badly behaving neighborhood teen/preteen children smashed the windshield of a neighbor’s driveway-parked Mercedes Benz this afternoon, first by jumping on the hood and kicking the glass in, then using a brick to add to the destruction.. They were both times witnessed by a neighbor, who called SPD. This follows the partial destruction of a neighbor’s little front yard food bank and more than once trashing the food therein in the street, allegedly witnessed by another neighbor. The parents don’t seem to have a solid grip on controlling this behavior, so it’s recommended that neighbors on and near Virginia Avenue keep a sharp lookout for more destructive activity and immediately report it to SPD at 410-548-3165. Many neighbors have invested in video cameras to monitor their property and streets. It seems like a good idea.

In my experience with a similar situation, the cops did nothing, neither the kid, nor the parents were held liable and I ended up footing the bill to have my vehicle repaired. Cops exact comment was “you don’t have an 8 year old to have a record do you”? Yes, I did but they refused to do anything about it.
Always a bit shocking to see out of control youth acting in this manner, but it has been just like this on a daily basis in almost all of the Wicomico County Schools. I know schools get a pretty bad rep locally (and some very deservedly so) but I just can’t imagine trying to teach these animals anything, and have to put up with it. Glad I’m retired.
