Democrats across the U.S. responded to Tuesday’s tragic school shooting in Texas by demanding that new gun control laws be passed that would crack down on Americans’ Second Amendment rights.
The calls to implement the gun control laws came after an 18-year-old male opened fire inside Robb Elementary School, killing more than 15 people, most of whom were children.
Leading the charge in pushing for more gun control laws was Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), who said that Republicans needed to find a way to work with Democrats to “pass laws that make this less likely.”
Murphy also suggested that mental illness was not the problem when it came to major shootings.
“Spare me the bull**** about mental illness. We don’t have any more mental illness than any other country in the world,” Murphy claimed. “You cannot explain this through a prism of mental illness because we don’t — we’re not an outlier on mental illness. We’re an outlier when it comes to access to firearms and the ability of criminals and very sick people to get their hands on firearms. That’s what makes America different.”
Ho-hum. New day, same old Democrat self-indulgent, self-revealing twaddle.
For all you folks out there that want to blame guns and have gun bans, think about this. When someone is killed with a baseball bat, hammer or even someone’s fist, we don’t call for those items to be banned. When a drunk driver or even a sober one kills someone with a vehicle, we don’t call for motor vehicles to be banned. When people are stabbed or have their throats slashed, we don’t call for knives to be banned. So what is the difference with guns? NOTHING! It has nothing to do with the instrument used to kill, but EVERYTHING to do with the person wielding said instrument. I’m deeply saddened by the events in Texas with these innocent people being murdered, but it has nothing to do with guns anymore than it has to do with any other tool/instrument used to kill people. Guns have been around since this country was founded. We fought a revolution against a tyrannical government set on keeping us subservient by not letting us be sovereign and be able to defend ourselves. We didn’t have this wide spread disregard for the law until we took GOD out of schools, family and everywhere else. Until that is fixed, we should have constitutional carry in this country. We should arm any and all teachers willing to do so. We should have better security in our schools. Don’t lay blame on an object that can do no harm until a person picks it up with evil intent. Most importantly, pray for those in Texas and everywhere that this happens.
