Kidnapping – Child home Safely due to Teamwork

Around 3:45 pm on Saturday May 21, 2022 Troopers from the Maryland State Police Salisbury barrack received
a 911 call from a frantic mother who advised her 1-year old child was just abducted from a residence of the
24000 block of Rivermere Drive in Eden. The mother of the child noted that she went to check on the welfare
of Kristina Marie Owens at which time, Owens stole the keys to the car which included the 1-year old child in
the inside. Owens fled in an unknown direction from the residence. Salisbury Barrack dispatched Troopers to
the area and broadcasted the vehcle information – 2012 Volkswagen Passat to all nearby agencies.

Fruitland Police observed the vehicle traveling on Camden Avenue in the Fruitland area where a traffic stop
was attempted. Owens fled from a Fruitland Police unit however they were eventually able to get the suspect
stopped safely in the area of Camden Ave and College Ave Salisbury without incident. Troopers and Officers
from Fruitland PD apprehended Owens. The 1-year old child was located safely inside of the vehicle and was
reunited with the mother back at the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack. Owens was taken into custody
by the Maryland State Police and transported to the Salisbury Barrack for processing. The 1-year old child was
unharmed during this incident and is safe with family. Owens was held at the Wicomico County Detention
Center
