How is there no fresh chicken anywhere on the eastern shore?
I know that Mountaire is several weeks behind in processing chicken because they have had so many employees out sick. Chickens are being held in houses longer. Things will get better!
They can’t hold chickens in houses significantly longer. Only another couple weeks at most. Then they have to depopulate because the birds are eating more than their return.
Right, I can only imagine what Perdue, Tyson, MountAire, etc. are getting for their product in target markets. Supply and demand.
I think that’s exactly what it is. Same thing was happening with crabs…watermen can get 2x/3x as much selling them in and around DC as they can on the eastern shore…so that’s where they were sold. Can’t blame them.

You think things are bad here. The stores in upper Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are rapidly going dry with this stupid truck driver mandate. Plus, Trudeau has just announced that Canada will be “fossil fuel free” in 2 years- so the people in Alberta are close to revolting. When the civil war in north America starts, its going to start in Canada. The wheat and grain we get from Canada. (and the lumber) is also going to become VERY expensive.
We regularly shop at grocery stores in Easton and Annapolis and they have not been suffering the meat shortage. Why not? My guess is that the Lower Eastern Shore is a lower priority.

I don’t know, I stopped going to Walmart in 2017. They were always out of key items I needed (frozen broccoli, bread, 2% milk) so I ended up having to go to Food Lion anyway. That’s when I realized, that Food Lion was cheaper anyway.
Walmart makes you think they’re cheaper by using smaller packages. 12oz of broccoli for $0.88, where Food Lion is $0.99 for 16oz. Not a big difference, but I couldn’t find anything that Walmart was actually cheaper on, same price or less at Food Lion, plus Food Lion had better sales, is less stressful (no packs of welfare families), and laid out better, not having to walk all the way across the store for a bar of soap, then in the opposite direction side of the store of dish soap, etc. Plus Food Lion actually has cashier’s on duty, or shorter self-checkout lines.
