Top lawmakers say they will investigate after a POLITICO report found Kamala Harris was inside the DNC during the discovery of a pipe bomb.

Top House lawmakers said Thursday they would press the Secret Service and Capitol Police for answers after a POLITICO report revealed then-Vice President-elect Kamala Harris was inside the Democratic National Committee headquarters on Jan. 6, 2021, when a pipe bomb was discovered outside.

“We have inquired” with the Secret Service, said Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), who chairs the House panels overseeing homeland security and the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

“We are doing a classified brief with [the Capitol Police], and that’s going to be on the agenda,” said Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), who chairs a subpanel overseeing funding for the Capitol Police. Ryan’s subpanel heard from top Hill security officials this week and is set to hold a classified briefing on issues like building upgrades that could not be discussed in a public setting.

The incident: Authorities are still searching for the suspect who planted the pipe bombs at the DNC and RNC the night before the riot. The FBI has described the bombs as “viable” and said they “could have been detonated, resulting in serious injury or death.”
