BERLIN – As the nation enters its third calendar year of the pandemic, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan this week announced a new state of emergency and a series of executive orders aimed at addressing the COVID-19 surge.
In a press conference held Monday, Hogan declared a 30-day state of emergency to combat the current COVID-19 surge and announced the enactment of two executive orders addressing staffing shortages and overwhelmed health care facilities across the state.
“All of the emergency actions we are taking today are to keep our hospitals from overflowing, keep our kids in school and to keep Maryland open for business,” he said. “And we will continue to take whatever actions are necessary in the very difficult days and weeks ahead.”
Monday’s announcement came as the state reported a record-high 3,057 COVID-19 hospitalizations, representing a 500% increase in the last seven weeks.
“From day one of this crisis I have told it to you straight, so the truth is the next four to six weeks will be the most challenging time of the entire pandemic,” Hogan said. “Our newest projections, as of today, show that COVID hospitalizations could reach more than 5,000, which would be more than 250% higher than our previous peak of 1,952 last year. While we were hoping for the best, we are actively preparing for the worst.”
1. Hogan needs to follow the science. Many people are going to the hospital because tests are unavailable in the pharmacies. Giving more money to the hospitals is wrong.
2. If there wasn’t a vaccine mandate in place more people would be working. Maybe he could eliminate that?
3. Following the example of Florida’s Governor DeSantis he could order the hospitals to report REAL covid hospitalizations and not someone who came in with a broken leg but tested positive.
THEN, you would not need this emergency, we’re going to keep you safe, give us more control of your life BS.

I am so fed up with this bullshit, you people have the flu or pneumonia, plain and simple or you might even have that famous common cold we all used to get. These tests are useless and you people standing in line are just lining these people’s pockets. The masks are killing you by cutting off your oxygen and killing your immune system. Check the Nyquil bottle and see if your symptoms aren’t listed on the damn bottle. Turn the blasted TV, Radio Off and quit listening to these so called experts who all have a cut in the profits and are all part of the plan to get rid of you. Do some damn research, they want us all dead. This is written out there so many places and you are still lining up to take their death shots. Stay home if you are sick and take care of it yourself the way you always did in the past, did you need a shot then, no you needed bedrest and liquids, and probably some Nyquil. Most of all avoid the hospitals if you can, because if they put you on a ventilator you can say good bye. And believe me you really want to stick around because things are going to get so much better.
Ive been screamin for a state of emergency for us few on the island…7700 registered voters yet 100k plus owners without representation. Rickie and Company require a state of emergency for the 2nd largest city in MD during the summer and CASH COW for Annapolis. Need a change
