Governor Larry Hogan (R-MD) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that it is “insane” to believe the people rioting at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 were not violent.
Anchor Dana Bash said, “What polls are showing about Republican voters they overwhelmingly believe the election lies that fueled the Capitol attack and Republican candidates across the country are playing into that belief and trying to win primaries that way. So can American democracy survive when these lies have been so deeply ingrained in your party?”
There is a fine line between riot and protest. The line is damage, theft, loss of life, etc. Are the people indefinitely incarcerated without fair trial by a jury of their peers guilty of crossing that line? Very doubtful. Have protests become riots and swept under the rug because it didn’t fit the narrative at large? Most certainly. These people should have had their day in court already, the fact we are approaching a year since the event and their imprisonment is absurd and terrifying. The powers that be should be sued tooth and nail to the point of absolute insolvency for using these people as a political propaganda tool to their and their families determent.
