Teachers’ union bosses have declared war on public school parents.
What we’re now seeing in school districts across the country is a punitive reaction by political educators against parents who discovered while their kids were home during the COVID school closures what had been going on behind their backs for years.
To cite just a few examples:
- In school districts across the country, Fridays are now online-only school days for the foreseeable future.
- Meanwhile, in December the Los Angeles Unified School District announced that 34,000 students will be barred from campuses for the second semester starting in January because they haven’t complied with the vaccine mandate to simply attend class.
- The same month, Chicago Public Schools announced it was eliminating gender-specific restrooms, right after Loudoun County, Va., made national headlines when the school board was found to have covered up the assault of two girls in two different high school bathrooms by the same alleged offender.
- Even as the weather grows colder, kindergartners in Portland, Ore., are forced to eat lunch outside, seated on socially distanced buckets.
The union bosses are fighting back because, as labor leaders, they naturally resist any attempt to hold their members responsible for anything. But even more fundamentally, teachers’ union leaders are first and foremost dyed-in-the-wool Marxists who see schools not as institutions for learning but indoctrination centers in which the next generation of radical minds can be inculcated.
Don’t lump all teachers in the same bucket. I’ve been teaching for over 20 years, I don’t belong to their association, I don’t spout CRT or this gender / pronoun nonsense, and I am unabashedly conservative. Parents are right to know what is being taught, and I encourage parents to ask questions and learn about the general train wreck of public education in Wicomico county. Parents, teachers can’t overturn the board, but you can and should.
I’m also a conservative teacher. I was a part of the association years ago until I figured out what they were up to. They don’t care a bit about the kids. It’s all about them and their power. Parents MUST elect a new board that is willing to fight for our kids. What we have now is a clueless bunch of wanna be politicians
As a former teacher, I can tell you that the quality of education went on the decline when the teacher associations became unions. I did not belong to the union. I was harassed, sent threating letters and a union representative from the state office come into my classroom. My lunch was even taken from the teacher’s room refrigerator and eaten by another teacher, a union supporter This stopped however when my attorney contacted the school board and threatened legal action. About 90 Wicomico County teachers do not support the union Most teachers join because of the insurance . My experience showed that the poorest teachers were union leaders and they were the first to go crying to the union when they were told to take courses or improve in the classroom About what is being taught in Wicomico County Schools–There is a good curriculum in place. However, there has been for many years a provision that a teacher can bring in any material they want as long as they teach it in a small group. This is where the problem lies. Parents need to support their child’s teachers and the administration must support their teachers. This is not happening in some of our schools.
