Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Sunday blasted prosecutors for bringing charges against Kyle Rittenhouse, claiming that they were acting on the “whims of the public.”
Christie, a former prosecutor, argued that it was clear that the evidence didn’t warrant the charges against Rittenhouse, 18, for fatally shooting two men and injuring a third during riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
“Those charges should never have been brought. And, you know, prosecutors are not supposed to give in to the whims of the public,” Christie said on “Fox News Sunday.”
“They’re not supposed to give in — give in to public opinion. You’re supposed to dispassionately look at the facts and the evidence and decide whether they support charges.”
