In Ocean City, Governor Hogan Announces State of Maryland Will Advance Route 90 Project

New Consolidated Transportation Program To Include “Unprecedented Infrastructure Investments”

ANNAPOLIS, MDDuring his keynote address today at the Maryland Association of Counties summer conference, Governor Larry Hogan announced that the State of Maryland’s new Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP)—to be released in early September—will include funding for the project planning phase for Route 90 improvements, advancing a long-held priority for Ocean City and Worcester County.

The upcoming CTP will reflect the Hogan administration’s continued commitment to a balanced, all-inclusive approach to infrastructure—with record investments in both roads and transit.

Governor Hogan’s remarks:

“In the coming weeks, state transportation officials will be rolling out a bold new consolidated transportation plan, which will include even more unprecedented infrastructure investments.

“In fact, while we are here in Ocean City, I am pleased to announce for the first time here today that our new CTP will include funding for the planning of the long-awaited and desperately needed MD Route 90—the gateway to Ocean City—project.

“MD 90 is a top priority not only for safety, access, and the local economy, but also for its vital role in emergency response. We are very pleased to be taking this important step forward and we also look forward to working with each of you and your jurisdictions on all of the critical projects in your counties.”

  1. So he is considering the possibility of appointing a committee to look into the feasibility of allocating funds to study the project of upgrading the RT 90 corridor. Hooray for the Rino.

  2. This is creating another nightmare in an already hazardous travel area. HOGAN will just be putting more peoples lives in danger.

Proves HOGAN and OC does not care about highway safety just money and tax revenue.

    Perthitic Politians

  3. I personally would like to see all of the SHA projects for road work would be schedule at exactly the same time…. Runs all the roads the last week of September and replace the first week of October – all those little cars would hate life

  4. Why doesn’t Wicomico or Dorchester Counties get
Any of that funding?? Two-Faced RINO! Lock Down Larry has given more money to Liberal Jake Day and Salisbury than all of the rest of Wicomico County Combined!

  5. Letter to the Editor:

Here is a serious question. Why didn’t Governor Larry Hogan stop by the Wicomico County Fair like he has done in most of the years past?

It’s painfully obvious that Lockdown Larry is no friend of Wicomico County nor its farmers. As a matter of fact Lockdown Larry isn’t a friend to any of the farmers in Wicomico County.

Funny how Lockdown Larry made a special trip to Salisbury last month to meet with Jake Day and tour downtown Salisbury!

    1. There are a lot of people pissed off at Lockdown Larry for shunning Wicomico County and the farmers. It’s not like he would’ve been going out of his way! The Wicomico County Fair was in his direct path on his way home after he made this silly speech at the Maryland Association of Counties Conference in Ocean City! What a freaking slap in the face to all the farmers and citizens who were looking forward to seeing their Governor! Everyone should go to his social media accounts and complain to him.

  6. VOTE NO to Route 90 being expanded

Tax greedy politicians are destroying the Eastern Shore; wildlife displaced, natural Habitat destroyed..

Most land is being built on now .and soon Delmarva will look like NEW YORK, DOWNTOWN BALTIMORE, NEW JERSEY, and many developed cities.

Ocean City is a 10 x 5 mile Island. Currently, Ocean city has been over built. The small Island and surrounding areas cannot handle current traffic conditions.

Why can’t there be a referendum put on the ballot for Eastern Shore folks to vote YES OR NO for continued building or Construction?

The Western shore hates the Eastern Shore because of our Conservative views..

The city traffic invades our small towns , and get pissed off when our towns don’t resemble their cities of no trees and open land.

They are destroying Dover Delaware with misfits from Jersey and New YOKE; land rapidly disappearing for Government Housing, highways. You see lots of road kill driving along the roads.

Nature is being destroyed by knuckleheads like Hogan.

I think its time we stand up to our towns before we have no land.

    1. Wait until those from NY, NJ, Bmore, etc take over downtown (City Hall). Names we are familiar with (Leighton, Fager, Buddy, Buntings) are aging. Unless McFaul or Reda want to step up…although they are pretty big elsewhere, new outsider blood is already here and have been watching intently. As well their family members multiplying in West OC too! Only need a full time address as well as being registered on the island.

$$$$ talks more today than stating practically once a month that an initiative needs to be “tabled” until further discussion/information is provided.

      Blah blah blah

  7. When the Hell is the State GOP Party going to disown that RINO Loser!

They should have disowned Lockdown Larry when he personally endorsed Jake Day fer Mare of Ghettobury!

  8. Maybe they can hire ALL the healthcare worker that are being FIRED because of the jack rabbit. Last year’s heros (and still are) are this years unemployed and bullied for not getting a vaccine. Worked in this mess way before it had a name and now they can’t even be responsible for their own health !!!

Funny how he is not requiring his staff to be vaccinated. Two faced POS.

  9. After some TV coverage of someone jumping into the Assawoman Bay to save a baby – now Larry on his corner will identify funding for a plan for Route 90. Heavy emphasis on the word plan since there are many other infrastructure challenges in MD that need addressing rather than a bridge that gets folks onto a 10 mile island 1/3 of a calendar year.

Yes, the island is MD’s 2nd largest city during the summer and a major revenue stream. Just like the study for the Bay Bridge – the final cost of adding 2 bridges, updated interchanges at Route 50, Route 113, Route 589, St. Martins Neck Road, Coastal highway as well as building the dual lanes inbetween will be in the BILLIONS and won’t happen anytime soon. YEARS away until something is approved then funding in Annapolis as well as in competition with the additional span of the Bay-Bridge and all other MD infrastructure needs.

HA Larry, prioritizing Route 90. Your time is short and you can say whatever. Each and every passing day the Route 50 bridge isn’t getting any YOUNGER either!

    Happy Talk = zippy!
