MSP Patrols Addressing Concerns in and about Wicomico County

MSP Salisbury received a complaint of aggressive driving and reckless operation of
motorists in a highly traveled portion of Wicomico County, namely the intersection of Beaglin Park
Drive and Old Ocean City Road in Salisbury Maryland. Residents of the community noted the
behaviors of motorists have only become more aggressive and detrimental to transiting the area.
Using High Visibility Enforcement (HVE), statistical enforcement principles and responding to the
needs of the community, MSP Salisbury initiated a mandatory speed enforcement and aggressive
driving effort in the area. Troopers were to provide a visible presence throughout the corridor when
weather conditions and calls for service allowed for such an effort.

Over the course of thirty days – MSP Salisbury conducted 26 High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) patrols,
utilizing 39 various troopers and nearly expending over 1,000 work hours over the course of five
weeks. During such time, troopers conducted 78 traffic stops issuing 28 citations, 32 warnings and 12
Safety Equipment Repair Orders (SERO). During a traffic stop, one operator was found to have an
outstanding warrant for their arrest. Speed violations included speeds of 64, 61, and 60 in a 40-mph
zone. Paired with violations of Negligent and Distracted Driving, the effort put forth by members of
the MSP Salisbury Barrack “E” saw a drop-in collision – both alcohol impaired and not during the same time period in 2019 with four (4), 2020 with two (2) and now 2021 with one (1).

Efforts similar to this will continue to be made in surrounding areas of the community. The Maryland
State Police was organized in 1921 and charged with reducing crime and highway tragedies through
statewide patrol and relentless enforcement of criminal and traffic laws. This directive has not
changed and remains the focus of what we do each day. We are proud of our tradition of excellence
in serving and protecting the people of Maryland.

  1. radar cops ? are you serious ? you commented like a liberal idiot and extreme left wing nut.
it’s obvious you don’t support police and do not know what they do or duties they perform.
you may need them sometime , I hope you do .

  2. The rt 13 corridor is really bad from Laurel into Salisbury too!
All the out of towners going south on Friday & Saturday make it a real sh8t show.

  3. kudos Leo’s….pleased to see you in late Sept on the island when the zoomers return – WANTING to be ticketed. Take their $$$$$$!!!

  4. They’ll do it for awhile then stop. Nothing will change. Salisbury has the some of the craziest drivers out there. Everyone in a hurry, and on the phone. Just be careful. Suck it up buttercups.

  5. It’s out of control everywhere in this county. Speeders on the bypass, 13, in town streets, parking lots, etc. So scary to drive anymore. Where and how do these people get driver’s licenses. What is up with pop up DMV stores around town can’t be legal.

  6. Of course none of you are left lane road hogs?? on your phone totally ignorant of the 2 mile backup behind you..and if you do happen to look in your rearview …you spiteful tards never pull over to let others pass…

    1. I have to make a left turn off the highway and when people are going 10-15 miles over the speed limit its really hard to get in that left lane.

  7. Get a Judge to order ALL radar off the road & make them fight real crime, on a Beat !!!!
Overpaid ticket writers , not acceptable !!!

  8. Well here is the Elephant in the room that no one is touching on!

Why didn’t the complaint go to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office? Is this a message to Sheriff Mikey from the Maryland State Police? The area should be the jurisdiction of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

  9. Put the cops on a REAL BEAT & fight REAL CRIME !!!!! Be on the public’s side & Protect & Serve , Not Attack
    & ticket !!!!

  10. see we got some leo lovers on here. crime and drugs are rampant around here, when are they gonna catch all those motorcyclist running in groups all over town without any tags license insurance etc? didnt think so. If you fools think the kops give a rats ass about saving your sorry ass you are dead wrong. All they care about is their paycheck and serving their political masters (whores), whichever way you want to see it. guarantee when you need one they wont be found, and if one does eventually show up they’ll take a report, sucks to be you! wake up people! and no I wont be calling for one!
    Semper Fi

  11. Police SPEED more than Anyone else, that’s what pisses me off & they are NOT above the Law either !!!!

They are not going to a call either , just doing it because they Can , & nobody will pull them over !!!!

    So, fix that one !!!!!

  12. Police Drink & Drive too, because they can & they take each other home !!! They don’t do that for YOU though !!!

  13. Alot of SLOW drivers are Far worse than anyone going fast > FACT !!!!

Maryland needs that Virginia Law about the Passing Lane , pass & get the hell out of it & move over >
don’t STAY in it , blocking traffic flow , or get a $200.00 FINE !!!!!

    1. Define “slow” is it 10 miles over the speed limit? or 15 ?
People going that fast need to get their butts out of bed earlier

  14. Put up STOP Lights were they were Loooong ago needed in Salisbury , Md !!!

Tilghman Rd , Corner / Snow Hill Rd & Johnson Rd corner / Phillip Morris & Mt Herman Rd corner !!!!!!
