Texas Democrats Who Fled State To Avoid Voting On Election Reform Bill File Lawsuit Claiming Rights Have Been Violated

The Texas Democrats who subverted democracy by fleeing the state in order to avoid voting on a bill that would require voters to show identification before voting are now suing Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) and others, claiming their rights have somehow been violated.

The lawsuit claims the governor, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan (R), and Texas state Rep. James White (R) “embarked upon a course of conduct which is intended to violate State and Federal Constitutional Rights of the Plaintiffs and the classes of citizens they represent by denying rights under the First, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.” The Democrats claim that their rights are being violated because of race, since some of them are “either black or white”; creed, since they “have expressed a faith or belief that every eligible citizen has the right to vote; color, because “certain Plaintiffs are distinguishable based upon the melanin in their skin”; and natural origin, because “certain Plaintiffs are descendants of persons born in other countries.”

  1. Frivolous suit. Move for Summary Dismissal, with Prejudice. Sanction their lawyers. Countersue for costs of defense and intentional infliction of….. Each defendant should countersue each plaintiff. Make it so hot they’ll want to leave again!
