First-class mail prices will increase from 55 cents to 58 cents
The U.S. Postal Service is moving forward with its decision to raise costs on Aug 29 in an effort to boost revenue, according to a letter from USPS Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy Peter Pastre.
USPS first announced the increase on May 28, though lawmakers including Rep. Glenn Grotham, R-Wis., have expressed concerns with the plan.
First-class mail stamp prices will increase from 55 cents to 58 cents, and general mail products will see average price increases of about 6.8%. Costs for magazines, newspapers and catalogs will rise by 8.8%, according to a July 19 filing from the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC).
Q. Why don’t they raise the price on bulk junk mail?
A. Because the marketers have a lobby that pushes the costs on to you and me.
Why in the h—- do they need a raise when their rural carriers can’t read an address correctly. My mail is constantly left in someone else’s mailbox. Sometimes they bring it to me sometimes they don’t. No need to say anything to the postmaster here. She could care less as long as she is getting her paycheck
End saturday delivery, period. While change is needed, also end the production of the penny. Long overdue.
Q. Why do we have the Postal Service now?
A. Because we love to screw people .
I just got back from the post office on Naylor St.
ONE clerk. 18 people in line.
There were two clerks, but one was doing a passport application for a woman who apparently was using two names and couldn’t figure out which one she should use.
Some customers started complaining kinda loudly about the service (they rang the bell for package pick-up and were POINTEDLY told to “stop ringing the bell. No one is coming to help you now.”
The guy doing the passport chimed in (from about 30 feet away) that “we’re doing the best we can and you can stand in line and wait.”. Now THAT is outstanding customer service!!!
It was on the verge of a small riot.
The loud guy told the passport guy that “your best isn’t good enough” and stormed out. He went outside, got in his car and laid on the horn for about 15 seconds….
A lady said out loud “Please, Lord, don’t let him come back in and start killing people.” THAT was funny, but also in the realm of possibilities…..
No wonder they are failing and they want a SEVEN DAY period to deliver mail now??? AND an increase in rates??! I could WALK my mail to New Jersey faster than they deliver it……
