WCSO Press Release 7-7-21 (Attempted Murder of a Deputy)

Incident: Attempted Murder of a Deputy

Date of Incident: 5 July 2021
Location: Chippewa Boulevard, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Pending
Narrative: On 5 July 2021 just past midnight, a deputy responded to the reports of shots being fired in the vicinity of Chippewa Boulevard and Kiowa Avenue in Salisbury. Upon arriving to the area of the complaint, the responding deputy immediately came under fire. It is presumed the gunshot that impacted the marked Sheriff’s Office vehicle in the driver’s door was fired out of a sedan that was leaving the area upon the arrival of the deputy.
The deputy was fortunately not injured in this incident.
Additional responding deputies observed what they believed to be the involved suspect vehicle as it fled the area and attempted to stop it. Instead of stopping, the operator of this suspect vehicle turned off the vehicle’s lights and attempted to flee from the deputies. Deputies were able to pursue the suspect vehicle to the rear parking lot of the 7-11 at the intersection of Salisbury Parkway and Nanticoke Road at which point the occupants bailed out of the vehicle and began fleeing on foot. The deputies were able to detain two individuals from the vehicle that were believed involved in the incident.
Investigation of this incident revealed there was a large block party that attracted a crowd of about 200 in the Chippewa Boulevard area for the Independence Day celebration. As the party progressed and as midnight approached, an altercation began and gunshots began ringing out. Investigation of this scene revealed evidence that over 100 shots were fired. It has since been discovered that multiple homes and vehicles in the area were struck by this gunfire, but at this time there have been no reports of any injuries.
This incident if being actively investigated by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division. Anyone who has any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Clark at 410-548-4891.
Tipsters may also contact Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776 where you will remain anonymous and could qualify for a cash reward.

  1. Interesting how they failed to mention the main reason the suspects got away is because there were hardly any deputies working that night. Just like any other night in wicomico county.

  2. Been a busy couple of days…..this in Salisbury, OCPD getting more youngins with guns via traffic stop and OCPD talking about the Anti-Biden signs (with profanity) on the boardwalk.

Reminds me of the guy last year with his Hogan sign. Nothing can be done about it and in 8 more weeks – POOF, gone until next summertime!

  3. Where are you Jake

Where is Jake’s outrage about this? He’s never one to miss a press conference, why isn’t he standing up there saying this violence in his town, on his watch, won’t be tolerated? Why isn’t he condemning this? 100 shots, multiple items struck by bullets, where are you Jake Day?

Maybe you’re painting a street? Could you be planning more bike lanes for the city? Possibly you’re looking at more of those blue reflective markers to put on the street so that the fire departments can find the hydrants?

Let me guess, your stance is going to be responsible gun ownership. The removal of high capacity magazines. You’ll probably even talk about how you use an assault rifle while you’re in the reserves but see no need for them within your city.

C’mon Salisbury, where is the outrage? What’s YOUR mayor going to do about this? It’s not one drip that creates the damage, it’s drip after drip, after drip that causes the problem. How many issues does Salisbury need before people wake up?

  4. Wait. Did I read that right? 100 shots fired? Jake, I thought you said there was no crime problem.

  5. Salisbury is out of control. If you watch the scanner sites the amount of crime being reported is absurd. Hit and run accidents are out of control. There have been a dozen or so in the last few days.

  6. You can go into the reservation and anytime you can see 40 illegal dirt bikes and 4 wheelers and not a cop in sight … how hard would it be to fly a drone over head and see where they hide them go arrest them

    1. Arrest them for what? It’s a traffic ticket. And now they don’t even have to pay them anymore thanks to the liberal state of Maryland. You can’t arrest for that. That’s why the police don’t care. It’s a waste of resources.

  7. Multiple homes and vehicles were hit by this gun fire, yet those people won’t open their mouths about who did the damage. Damn they were there, they probably know. Insurance companies should deny their claims until they come up with names of who is responsible.

  8. What I don’t understand is why are thug suspects out of jail already? Isn’t being followed and hiding behind the 7-11 reason enough to hold them with probable cause? Not in the Bury, I guess.
