Marjorie Taylor Greene accuses Cori Bush of “racism” over July 4 tweet

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Green blasted Missouri Congresswoman Corey Bush as racist on Sunday evening, later tweeting that “black people are still not free,” amid July 4 celebrations.

On Sunday afternoon, as Independence Day was being celebrated across America, Bush criticized the incident on Twitter.

“When they say the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: The freedom they’re referring to is for white people. This land is stolen land and black people are still not free,

The Democratic lawmaker wrote. In a follow-up tweet, Bush, a prominent supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, wrote: “We know what our own freedoms look like. End slavery allowed under the 13th Amendment.

“End the War on Drugs. End Police Violence. Health Care, Housing, and Education End apartheid. We are the experts on our liberation. And we won’t stop until it is won.”

Green, a high-profile Republican who has publicly supported former President Donald Trump, responded to Bush’s original tweet about July 4, writing: “Say a black woman who is currently serving in Congress One of only 435 people in the entire US elected to do so.

“You can stop with blatant racism now and put your race card back in your pocket. 4th of July is freedom for all from a tyrannical government. Happy Independence Day!”
