Thousands of papers, some documenting the auction and sale of enslaved Black Americans, were headed for the auction block themselves before Black historians and community members stepped in to reclaim ownership over their past.
“It was important to the community because this will connect the dots for people and the younger generation, to let them know how things were. To move forward, you have to see what the past was like,” said Carolyn Brooks, a community historian with the Chesapeake Heartland Project.
About 2,000 pages dating from the late 1600s to early 1800s were found in a plastic trash bag in the attic of a 200-year-old house near Chestertown, Maryland, as the owner, Nancy Bordely Lane, was cleaning it out this spring.
The foundation of the house, built in 1803 on property that had remained in the family since 1667, was reportedly damaged and the structure was going to be demolished. The documents were headed for the garbage, but were rescued and delivered to Dixon’s Crumpton Auction in waxed seafood boxes, John Chaski, an antique-manuscript expert, told the Washington Post.

So what , use them to keep the fire burning. History ? I don’t think it matters now , get over it people.
WHo Cares !!!! We were Not alive back then & have Nothing to do with it !!!!! Get over it
The documents prove that white people were good to their slaves but the blacks are trying to make it sound like they were tortured everyday.
Think about it this way. If you had a nice car and the air conditioner went up on it would you beat the car to pieces so that you couldn’t drive it again? Absolutely NOT! Even though slaves were bought, they damn sure wouldn’t intentionally hurt them. They want you to believe they were whipped every day where the whips cut into their skin like razor blades. That is fake news and so far from the truth. The slaves were given their names and treated like family. Quit believing the hatred.
“To rectify this, the deed for the documents, which are being digitally archived for the public, was handed over to a Black-run nonprofit, Sumner Hall, which operates as a museum, educational site, performance stage, social hall and gallery in Chestertown.”
Read between the lines. This black run nonprofit is going to tell you what they want you to know about this. They are going to rewrite the history. Just wait and see.
Second, why is “Black-run” capitalized?
well if they are so interested in their history maybe they could just go back to africa and search through the records on file there. oh that’s right there arent any records because the people were and still are illiterate!
being captured by other blacks sold into slavery to the british by other blacks and brought to amerika by the british slavers was probably the best outcome for their progeny!
Don’t let the Racist Democrats get it because you will Never hear the end of it !!!!
If history continues to be changed, what of the relevance of slavery?
Can’t have it both ways either!
50 years I will be dead (along with ALL the baby boomers), I can’t imagine what things will be like.
So I will drink NOW for those still around!
People Better start worrying about the PRESENT & FUTURE instead of the Past !!!! The Past is OVER !!!
Tell it to the Dead Slave owners because there are NONE left alive today !!!!
They didn’t have plastic trash bags back then either.
NO-BODY alive today has a damn thing to do with SLAVERY , so may as well STOP beating the Drum for Hate !!
how about we dox the black owners of slaves
Lets look at the WHITE SLAVES back in history , since there were Many More than the Black ones !!!!
