Maryland continues pumping out some of the best Olympic and Paralympic athletes in the country and the world.
One of, if not the, top wheelchair racers is from Maryland, and he has won every single qualifier race at this year’s trials.
“One of the questions that they asked me is, ‘How does your disability impact your life?’ I sat there for about two minutes trying to come up with some answer. I eventually came up with, ‘Well, if something’s really high, I might not be able to reach it.’ So, pretty much everyone just started out laughing,” Romanchuk said.
Romanchuk will compete in the wheelchair marathon in Tokyo, his second Paralympic Games, looking for his first medal.
“It’s a huge honor to go to these competitions and represent the U.S.,” Romanchuk said. “It’s a team effort. I did not get to where I am on my own. I’m really thankful to coaches, teammates, family, friends. (I’m) thankful to God for the opportunities that he has given me. (It’s) kind of an overwhelming feeling.”

Nice story – thanks.
Tear it up Young Dan ! And Congratulations !
Great smile!
