A plan to develop a strategy to rebrand Ocean City’s image received a rousing endorsement from the elected officials.
Last week, Ocean City Tourism and Business Development Director Tom Perlozzo presented his ambitious plan to dive into research and data collection on a path to begin rebranding Ocean City’s image to the town’s Tourism Commission. On Monday, Perlozzo presented the same plan to the Mayor and Council. Perlozzo was appointed to the newly-created position in April and began June 1.
The four-phase plan presented to the Mayor and Council on Monday includes research and data collection. The plan calls for collecting more visitor data and research and implementing a strategy to drive more visitors to the resort. The research phase focuses not only on those visitors who already come to Ocean City, but perhaps more importantly, those who have never been or choose to vacation elsewhere.
Essentially, the plan calls for retaining the traditional customer base, while attracting new visitors. While it does not suggest a major departure from the town’s image as a traditional family vacation destination, the plan suggests there are opportunities to expand on that image.
And Perlozzo gets paid how much for his platitude….”We need to retain our current customer base while looking for new customers”? My 10 year old daughter knows that much and would let them know for free!
Changing the image requires the hard choices of not putting up with the bullcrap that happens in that town. When the officers were plastered all over the place for enforcing the law on vapers, a town statement should have been put out. We back our officers 100% when they enforce OUR laws. If you can’t abide by OUR laws, don’t come to Ocean City period. If people feel safe they will come. Get a reputation of being hard on crime no matter how small. I was there yesterday. Everything was great. When the shit hits the fan, bust their ass, and back your Police.

Getting visitor data to rebrand ? Why don’t you decide the kind of community and the type of visitors you want and build that ???

Rebrand it with Gay Bars, Trans gender floor shows, Boardwalk queers entertaining the crowds, co-ed bathrooms, and do commercials as the hew “Woke” resort for the Alphabet crowd!
Sell loads of sex toys in the gift shops instead of stupid overpriced “T” shirts!
