Chaos in west Baltimore Wednesday after police say multiple gunmen opened fire on a group that left one man dead and five others injured, including a 16-year-old boy. A mass shooting in broad daylight.
Mayor Brandon Scott and police Commissioner Michael Harrison were at the shooting scene, both of them telling reporters it was a crime committed by cowards.
Police say a shot-spotter alert went off just before 2-30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers responded to the gunfire and found the wounded.
Investigators say the 6 victims were together standing or sitting down when two or three other people approached and opened fire on the group. It happened on West Lexington Street near North Smallwood Street.
“We know that this is an unfortunate thing that happens in this area of west Baltimore and we will not and we cannot accept that,” said Scott.
Police Commissioner Harrison (a Black man) said it correctly,
“They’re emboldened because they think they can because they either don’t fear consequences are they suspect that there are none. or a combination of both”.
You can thank all the Black Democrats that run your city for this “lack of fear of any consequences”, Police Commissioner Harrison. It’s their fault that your city is failing.
