A Maryland NAACP leader is suggesting people may decide to boycott Ocean City, Maryland, after the arrest of several Black teens on the town’s famous boardwalk over the weekend, captured in a viral video that showed an officer repeatedly kneeing a 19-year-old in the back.
“If Ocean City doesn’t want the money of young Black men, and they want to spend their time attacking them using MMA moves on them when they’re on the ground handcuffed, then maybe we shouldn’t spend our money in Ocean City,” President of the Maryland State Conference of the NAACP, Willie Flowers, said during a news conference in Annapolis on Wednesday.
He was joined at the news conference by the leaders of several other organizations, church leaders and state lawmakers.
Asked by a reporter to clarify whether the organization was calling for a boycott, Flowers said the group wasn’t using that term just yet, partly for “strategic” reasons, but he added later, “We’re in a state that depends greatly on tourism and … those young people were there for a vacation, and they were insulted and their money was disrespected.”
Hey if black youth from the inner city wish to boycott OC, I have no problem with that!
This will make it a much safer, family friendly atmosphere and will actually increase business!

The NAACP, a racist organization, would be better suited spending their time and resources trying to determine why the majority of members of their race are uncapable of following rules, obeying laws meant for ALL, respect for authority and the general lack of morals.

I doubt OC needs the money of young Black men, who create the majority of the problems and cost the city twice as much to clean up after them, compared to what they spend.

I call BS – the young men in the video were non compliant and brought the situation upon themselves. When they were forced to deal with the consequences they aired a snippet of a video that did not show the whole story. Then this joker gets involved and wants to boycott OC? I think this would be a great case study. Let all the NAACP and BL.M supporters stay home, boycott OC and not come to the beach. We will see if crime rates go down or up, walkouts on restaurant tabs go down or up, Tips for wait staff go down or up. Boardwalk trash and mayhem goes down or up. I have a hypothesis, now let’s do the study and see what the results and conclusions are.

OC is probably echoing Brer Rabbit, “Please don’t boycott us.” The folks gathered on the western shore for their boycott presser obviously have little practical influence on the bad boys and girls they’re related to who create problems in OC. But the issues are skewed by the age and race demographics tied to most unlawful public disruptions. Until the boycotters can exert influence on their young they’re part of the problem.
