Democrats Doing It Again

Everybody should get a bag of popcorn and a soda and sit down and watch the very last topic of the County Council’s, June 1st meeting. The topic is under the Open Work Session, item #2 –  Process for Selecting a Redistricting Commission. It’s almost an exact repeat of how the Democrats skillfully maneuvered the outnumbered Republicans into selecting a Democratic Control Charter Commission. That’s the commission that had the Democrats opting for weighting votes out of a selection of candidates with them having a majority number for votes. Councilman Josh Hastings carefully crafted his maneuvers by saying if they followed the procedure the council used the last time with each councilman making a selection that would give the Republicans a 4-3 advantage. So if they used the Governors suggestion of using 3 – Republicans, 3 – Democrats and 3 – Independents,  that would make the process fairer. He said this knowing that Republican Councilman Cannon always votes with the Democrats, like he did on the Charter Review Committee, and so this would give Democrats the majority to pick the three remaining so-called Independent members and complete control of redistricting. Councilman Cannon also at this same meeting voted with the Democrats in  raising a second car landfill sticker fee to $30.00. There is something a little screwy about the Governor’s formula. When I looked for the different official parties on the Election Board website I found Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, Bread and Roses Party and the Working Party. That’s the first time I saw those two last ones. I didn’t see unaffiliated/independent listed as a Party. Would appreciate anyones’ insight on that one. So if the Republican Governor is letting two officially listed parties and one unofficial party into this magic formula then why didn’t he allow for anyone from the Rainbow Party or the Vulnerable Citizens Party on this Redistricting Committee also? Something is amiss here folks. Could it be the Governor is looking for another job after his time is up next year and he wants to get favor from the Democrat majority party in Maryland to win that seat. So Wicomico County, this all hinges on one councilman’s vote, John Cannon. How’s this going to go Wicomico? Jon E. Jrr.

  1. Thank you for posting this. John Cannon has really proven that he is a damn RINO voting with the Democrats and giving Democrat control over the Charte Review Committee. I was told that he fought hard to get his buddy Mike Dunn on the Committee. Now look at the Charter Review Committee, it’s chaired controlled by a flaming liberal Democrat by the name of Mike Dunn. Please tell us how the Republicans have control of the County Council but there is a majority of Democrats on the Charter Review Committee? Please tell us how the Socialist Democrat is the Committee Chair? RINO John Cannon has a lot of explaining to do. On June 28, 2021 there is a Republican Club meeting at the Delmarva Evangelist Church on Gordy Road. The meeting starts at 7 pm and John Cannon will be the topic of discussion. Please join us to confront John Cannon about his RINO votes with the Progressives!

  2. Calling John Cannon a RINO is an real understatement because he is a complete sellout of the Republican party and a Democrat in disguise. Not just that charter review board, he voted with Hastings, McCain and Davis to get special legislation in Annapolis to cut the property tax for residential developers in Salisbury like the City Council is doing. Johnnie wants his bread buttered on one side by Jake Day and by Jack Heath and his council lackeys on the other.

And what about Cannon’s flip flop to fire and then rehire Wilber as the County Attorney.

He should be expelled from the party by the Republican Central Committee.
