The topic of unemployment in Maryland during the pandemic has often been a very sore subject.
Maryland residents are frustrated after they awoke on Sunday to find they were apparently unable to file their weekly unemployment claims through the state’s Department of Labor “BEACON” portal.
The issues began Sunday morning when calls started to come into the FOX45 newsroom alerting us of the issues residents were having.
No one, myself included, can file their @MD_Labor weekly unemployment certification at the moment. Looks like @GovLarryHogan is cutting us off early. But hey, he just bought a $1.1M mansion in Davidsonville. @ScottTaylorTV

He also said not even two weeks ago that they were going to continue federal unemployment, now he's ending it in July.

Around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday the Maryland Department of Labor sent out a tweet addressing resident’s concerns and issues.
If you are an unemployment insurance claimant and are not able to file your weekly claim certification this week, please check your BEACON portal to see if you have an “Apply for Benefits” button as pictured below. pic.twitter.com/pHbZnZCvOs

A better question is, What happened to the 9 million in the unapproved Covid tests under State Police guard? since the state did away with the debit card & went to Direct Deposit with Wells Fargo > State puts confusing

I heard wcboe has a ton of jobs available from teaching to the trades – just a thought but maybe some of the folks caught up in this mess of PU/UI might be interested to try their luck there – I don’t know how the maintenance / trades pay there (we all know teachers and admin make a killing) but worth a shot
in 50 years, the minimum hourly rate increased less than 5 times.
in 50 years, mortgage payments, rent, utilities increased 10 times.
in 50 years, the Dow Jones Industrials increased 50 times.
If minimum hourly rate increased 10 times, the rate should be $16/hour not $15.
