I was walking on the Boardwalk yesterday and at 8th Street, I suddenly noticed a Ferris wheel extending out over the Boardwalk. Last October Antoinette Bruno of Trimper’s Rides asked the City Council’s permission to install the Big Wheel 13 feet past the property line and over the Boardwalk for better visibility. She did not receive permission. It now appears it is easier to ask forgiveness than to get permission. As a councilmember in October I was opposed because of the liability to the public and the precedent it would set. A coin falling from the Ferris wheel could reach nearly 40 mph when it hits. And imagine when every business in Ocean City starts extending signs out over the public streets. Move the Ferris wheel onto their private property and protect the public and the vista of all streets in Ocean City.
Christ! Are shittin me?! I thought it was a hazard too. But thought it was just another dumbass idea of OC’s. Turns out it was, but to a whole other level of stupid. If something hits a child in a stroller, or anything like that, it’s a tragedy. Has she ever thought past her a$$ on anything her entire life? Shut the thing down and reposition it. Morons!
To think the “entitlement” factor is just now being tested on the boardwalk?
Oh please. City Fail – there is no forgiveness. Business know the lack of backbone existing.
Well, an opportunity now exists to get businesses in line, SHUT IT DOWN for not obeying! Don’t and it will continue!
Is it just do what you want in Ocean City then say oops I’m sorry it’s over the boardwalk, please forgive me? Do what you were elected to do city officials, it was denied, make her take it down.
The Trimper owners are “Special”
Cash skimmer experts!
The Trimpers and that dumb ass woman think they are so special that they can do as they please and there won’t be a thing done about it,
