Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County under review for name change

Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia is among several U.S. army installations being considered for a name change by the Pentagon’s Confederate renaming commission.

According to the MilitaryTimes.com, the commission is looking not just at locations and things named after individual Confederates – but is considering anything that was named to honor the Confederacy.

Belvoir was originally the name of a plantation on which the post now sits. It was called Fort A.A. Humphreys when it became an Army installation in 1917 and went back to Belvoir in 1935 at the request of a Virginia congressman who wanted to recognize the historical plantation, the report says.

  1. What weak, sick puppies the United States leaders have become, while us minions set around without say. How are we appearing to the outside countries? Sure doesn’t look good from here on the inside. I still break a watery eye when hearing our National Anthem at a event. I don’t move around and talk with my cap on my head like some. I was raised proud of the USA. But we didn’t have indoctrination in our schools. The instructors were as proud as the youths.

  2. That’s home of the Defense Intelligence Agency that General Flynn ran before Trump picked him as a Cabinet member and before the Deep State tried to take him out. Now I read that a former Chinese defector and the DIA knew about the Chinese activity with COVID. Hmmmmm…..

  3. I can support changing names of bases or facilities named for Confederates because they fought against the USA. But the former plantation didn’t. Virginia has a storied history from its discovery/founding through the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers which helped frame the Constitution, and a number of of early Presidents. The Prog/Commies want to erase all of that so they can backfill with their fabricated narratives.

Our history is a proud one, imperfect to be sure, but the best humans have come up with so far.

  4. These Einstiens have no clue about history. They only know how to speak properly in Ebonics. No one living on this earth today was or owned a slave. Blacks don’t realize that the blacks sold the blacks and owned slaves themselves. Whites didn’t have life so great back then either. Suck it up and get over the black and White and North and South BS!
