Keith Davis, Jr., serving 50 years for murder, granted 5th trial

A Baltimore man sentenced to 50 years in prison after his 4th trial for murder may now face a 5th trial.

Judge Sylvester Cox issued a ruling today that Keith Davis, Jr. be granted the request made by his public defender.

The decision was made based on a ruling from the Maryland Court of Appeals.

Davis was sentenced in March of 2020 in the murder of Keith Jones. Jones was working at Pimlico Racetrack as a security guard in 2015. Davis was found guilty of 2nd-degree murder on July 26, 2019.

Davis was tried in May 2017, October 2017, and June 2018 which resulted in two deadlocked juries and one overturned conviction. However, jurors deliberated for less than a day at Davis’ fourth trial before unanimously finding him guilty in the death of Jones.

No word from Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby will try Davis again.

  1. He’s the “right” color… Mosby is as much of a criminal as he is.. she will decline to prosecute would be my bet, and he will walk away.
