A federal appeals court has heard arguments from advocates who want to overturn a local ordinance that bans women from going topless at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland.
The Washington Post reports that the Richmond-based 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is reviewing a ruling last year that upheld Ocean City’s law barring women from going topless at the beach to protect “public sensibilities.”
The case began when five Maryland women sued the resort town over the 2017 law, saying it unfairly targets women in violation of the Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection.
The ordinance makes public nudity a municipal infraction punishable by a fine of $1,000. Ocean City officials say the ordinance is necessary to maintain the town’s family-friendly character.

My neighbor mows the lawn topless, and I see boobs bouncing as he rides the tractor around. He has very large boobs and no one give him any crap. Point being men have large boobs too and it is ok for them to run around with them exposed. Equal rights means equal across the board.
Now OC needs to wake up and remember it hasn’t been a “Family” resort since the 1950’s. In the 60’s there were hippies having sex on the beach in front of families. It didn’t hurt anyone.
New York city has allowed topless women in central park for years now, and it hasn’t caused any problems. Europe has topless beaches and no one is hurt or ruined.
I was in Japan 2 years ago and you should see the game shows they have on TV ! Sex, masturbating, boobs, and erect members all out there on the TV screen. And no one is getting hurt by it.

I remember having to explain uncomfortably to my 8 year old son what a “Bearded Clam” was, on our first visit to OC. Then their is all of the freaks on the boardwalk dancing and panhandling, the foul language coming out of every teens mouth.
This place is as family friendly as the bowery in New York!

I’ll bet many of you here didn’t know that Washington DC allows women to go topless, and it is the nations capital, with millions of families touring the sites.
I used to work in DC and retired in 2019. I always took my lunch outdoors to see the women during the week freeing their nipples. I miss summer in the big city.
