United Airlines took their wokeness to the next level this week after condemning Georgia’s new voter integrity laws.
United happily announced it will train thousands of new pilots based on race.
United says “diversity is at the forefront” of its pilot program:

What if they don’t apply or are unqualified? Diversity is a good thing but not when hiring unqualified workers.

Don’t care what color they are, as long as they are the best pilot they can hire!!! This crap has gone too far.
Public Relations disaster, as a starting point.
Traditional pathways to airline cockpit are expensive and time consuming to acquire minimum FAA licenses and ratings, and to log actual flight hours. Large numbers of current pilots are heading toward mandatory age 65 retirement, and airlines are actually trying to expand (2020 was anomaly).
Ab Initio programs, with zero experience pilot candidates have been getting pitched for close to 40 years. Major reliance on classroom and simulator training to try to substitute for actual experience. Needless to say, a major hurdle!
United owns a Flight School which charges hefty tuition, and they own or have contracts with commuter airlines which fly smaller aircraft. They may be able to place their graduates there and provide an accelerated path to the big jets for those who do well.
Good pilots come in two genders and many colors; same for bad pilots.
