Baltimore isn’t the only city going soft on low-level offenses

Baltimore isn’t the only city where prosecutors have gone soft on low-level offenses.

Six years ago, California voters approved Proposition 47, which was aimed at reducing the prison population and reclassified some felonies as misdemeanors.

In Fresno, a city of about 500,000 in central California, property crime has soared since the measure passed.

“It’s not going to make us safer,” said Fresno’s Sheriff.

Experts say police officers are discouraged from making arrests.

Cully Stimson, a legal official with the Heritage Foundation think tank, asked: “Why would they engage in the paperwork when they know the gatekeeper will kick it out in 8-10 hours?”

  1. It’s not a low level crime if you, a family member or a friend are injured, or if your property is damaged or stolen, and you are left without recourse.

These crimes got on the books as society’s way of stepping in to deflect and curtail the wronged from serving personally administered justice to the perps. Failure of the State to enforce the laws and prosecute offenders will obviously cause an increase in victim administered retribution.

  2. They want chaos and lawlessness it’s a form of oppression which the left loves to do and on top of that they want to disarm lawful gun owners

  3. Come summer “Indecent Exposure” won’t be prosecuted or “Indecent Acts” these to are low level, so could be very interesting at the Harbor! Naked girls sunbathing and walking around, men pleasuring themselves in public, it will be like walking around San Francisco or New York! 2 summers ago I was in San Fran on business and saw men actually doing the sex act on a bench in public! Cops just watched!

  4. Creepy old men are going to drive around Vans and offer candy to little girls, not a crime anymore to give out candy. Might even let the little girls sit on their laps and they can smell their hair. Can whisper in their ears and rub their shoulders too. No crime, might even get to kiss their necks and checks. No crime to just be very friendly.
