Capitol officers sue Trump over ‘physical and emotional injuries’ from Jan. 6 attack

Two Capitol Police officers are suing former President Donald Trump over “physical and emotional injuries” they suffered during the attack on the Capitol Jan. 6, which they say was incited by the former president.

Officers James Blassingame and Sidney Hemby accuse Trump of directing the assault and battery perpetrated by the rioters and aiding and abetting those actions.

The officers, who have been on the force for more than a decade, are each seeking at least $75,000 in damages. They are the first officers to sue in court over the attack.

Trump has not yet responded to the lawsuit. His defenders, including his defense team at his impeachment trial over the attack, argue that Trump did not incite the crowd at a rally before the assault to engage in destructive behavior.

  1. Democrats no doubt have paid these officers. Obviously they found two dirty ones who would fall for their rhetoric. They blast them and say how dirty cops are and want to defund them, then turn around and offer them money to lie. Just like the military man the FBI and DHS agency members went and offered money to if he would spy on Americans.

  2. Poor delusional twisted fools don’t realize are being played we all know the democrats Pelosi sponsored and supported the riots with their Rhetoric & interlopers from their marxist army. It’s going to take the militias to get things back in order if this keeps up

  3. If they think they need to sue a President, they should get their facts straight and sue the right one and that would not be Trump but more like the one that takes naps and sleeps and stumbles around in the white house now.

  4. They should be countersued, including for costs of representation. And the lawyers representing them should be sanctioned for filing a frivolous suit. Punch back twice as hard.
