Lara Trump joins Fox News, won’t preclude her from potential Senate run

Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of the former president, is joining Fox News as a contributor, but it won’t affect her decision on whether she should run for Senate in 2022.

Trump, who is married to former President Donald Trump’s son, Eric, announced her latest gig during an appearance on Fox & Friends Monday morning. She said the network has agreed to work with her in the event she does decide to pursue the North Carolina vacancy left by retiring Republican Sen. Richard Burr but added that she hasn’t made a decision yet. Trump grew up in the Tar Heel state and named her daughter Carolina after the state.

“Yeah, well, Fox has been very generous with me, and they have said, look, if that’s something that you ultimately decide to do, they are going to work with me on that front and make sure that everything, all the rules are followed, and we do everything properly. So, thank you to the Fox team for allowing me to have the possibility that that’s in the future, so I still haven’t officially made a decision, but hopefully sometime soon,” she said.

A number of people within the Trump orbit have been rumored to be considering running for political office.
