Amid the ongoing criminal investigation into State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby and City Council President Nick Mosby, both elected officials have used government resources to create and share promotional videos focused on themselves and their professional goals.
The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office purchased a 30-second block of airtime to run an advertisement during the recent Oprah interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The advertisement featured pictures and videos of State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, who used it as an opportunity to share her commitment to victims and witnesses of crime in Baltimore City.
After the ad aired, some social media users took exception to its style and rejected the idea that the State’s Attorney’s Office needs to advertise on television.
What was very clearly an ad for Marilyn Mosby just came on but identified itself as an ad for the state’s attorney’s office and since when does a government office need commercials for itself?
