Virginia man sentenced to 31 years in nationwide sextortion scheme

A Virginia man was sentenced to 31 years in prison Friday after a years-long sextortion scheme that involved nude photos of children – some as young as 11-years-old – from across the country.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 36-year-old Fillippo Parlagreco pleaded guilty to the production, distribution, and possession of child porn in November 2020. The case began in 2017 when Parlagreco first posed as a teenaged girl

According to an affidavit, Parlagreco persuaded a 14-year-old to send sexually explicit photos. He then posted the photos online and “demanded that she produce and send him additional explicit images if she wanted them removed.”

Parlagreco harassed the victim for over three years, the documents said – even after the victim blocked him on social media.

After federal authorities learned his identity, investigators learned Parlagreco “sexually exploited at least 12 other minor victims nationwide.” The affidavit referenced a victim, named Minor Victim 2, who told authorities Parlagreco used the same extortion tactic on her; at one point, the document said Parlagreco sent an explicit photo of the victim to one of their male friends.
