Baltimore is one of the most dangerous cities in the country, marked in places by piles of trash, abandoned homes, drugs and high crime rates.
The Daily Caller’s Caity McDuffee headed over to the streets of West Baltimore to meet up with former Maryland District 7 candidate Kim Klacik to get the answer to this question: Who broke Baltimore ?
“We were here, you know my opponent, no other elected officials come here and actually see the devastation, and so when they pass all these policies they don’t realize how it is affecting or they don’t really care how it is affecting the individuals who live here,” Klacik said.
Klacik also discussed the balloons scattered throughout the city as a memorial for someone who was killed.

The decay of Baltimore accelerated following the racial riots of 1968. I was there with the National Guard and witnessed it as a 20 year resident of the city.
It began after Dr. King was assassinated. Residents took to the streets to protest this in any way they could find but mostly through destruction of property. Most services back them were provided by local minority business owners and they became the victims of the rioters anger. One by one, these small businesses were destroyed with many being burned to the ground. When the smoke cleared (literally), the small businesses gave up trying to survive and left. It wasn’t long before the residents who were left realized that there were no longer anyone left to cater to their needs and that’s when the boarding up of Baltimore began and continues like that today.
This part of Baltimore’s history has never been taught in the schools and probably never will now that the teachers have managed to keep the schools closed because of COVID.
