VCU freshman, 19, is found dead after fraternity party as devastated family claim he drank a bottle of Jack Daniels ‘during hazing that went too far’

A 19-year-old Virginia university freshman has been found dead after a night of suspected hazing during which his family claim he drank an entire bottle of bourbon.

Adam Oakes was found dead by peers on Saturday morning after a party at the Delta Chi frat house at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

His devastated family are adamant that he died as a result of a ‘hazing process that went too far’ and that friends have revealed he ‘drank a handle of Jack Daniels’ and hit his head.

‘It’s a hole in my heart that will never be healed,’ Oakes’ father Eric said before turning away from an NBC camera with tears in his eyes.

  1. This happens all the time on college campuses across the country. What can you do? I know I would be devastated if it happened to my kids.
