New offshore wind training facility could bring a boost to Salisbury’s economy

As the nation moves toward relying more on renewable energy, one local company is getting ready to provide training for those workers. “Everybody needs to go through training, and it’s a lot of people at the same time. So in the end I think we will have delegates here from the whole country,” said President of Arcon Training Center Katarina Ennerfelt.

Arcon Training Center will soon be one of the only places on the East Coast where people can get the safety training they need to become offshore wind workers. “With our new administration we know that the alternative energy will be a whole different ball game,” said Katarina.

That’s something that the Greater Salisbury Committee says could be a huge economic opportunity for the city of Salisbury.  “That would mean workers coming into the area for two to five days at a time, staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, shopping in our shops,” said President and CEO of GSC Mike Dunn.

  1. Wind power costs far more than it delivers, plus does more environmental harm than good. We’re all being hoodwinked.

  2. Dream on jackass, They’ll eat at the hotel, sleep at the hotel, and then have training in between. It’s a work assignment numbnuts, not a vacation.

    1. Wind power isn’t ready for prime time that’s just a fact… for what’s being spent the government could make us all millionaires and we wouldn’t need to worry about cost of electricity

  3. Your bumbling mayor promoting this travesty and full on BS, and your joke of a chamber of commerce.
This isn’t a college. the is a handful of people .
    Economic boom? Full on lie.
Jake and his merry band of ass kissers are drinking pitchers of that koolaid and the only economic boom will be to the foreign entity that owns the mills at the expense of the taxpayers.

He ain’t telling ya that we need those 10 or so people to come here because the residents will not have spending money to eat out once they jack up your electric costs.

Drag up this story in a couple of years and be ashamed at how you allowed this to happen and what a joke it and your elected officials are.

  4. Since on shore wind failed miserably at Wye Mills’ college, why imagine off shore wind wouldn’t be van more of a disaster? Lefties never think past their noses.
