The Maryland Senate on Friday unanimously passed a measure for a $577 million settlement to a long-running lawsuit involving the state’s four historically Black colleges.
The measure now goes to the House of Delegates, where House Speaker Adrienne Jones is a strong supporter.
The General Assembly approved the legislation last year. It was vetoed by Gov. Larry Hogan, who cited the fiscal toll of the coronavirus pandemic.
The lawsuit from 2006 alleged the state had underfunded the institutions while developing programs at traditionally white schools that directly compete with and drain prospective students away from HBCUs.
In 2013, a federal judge found that the state had maintained “a dual and segregated education system” that violated the Constitution.”
All black colleges give students a major of sports for men and women , mostly of basketball or football , how in the hell can you justify this type of crap? A degree without any knowledge .
Everyone is of equal intellect. That is why everyone is a winner. Therefore making everyone entitled, that is except the ones that are actually smarter and earned what they have. Don’t repeat this for heavens sake, because it isn’t politically correct. That’s right, don’t forget PC. You know growing up it was said “all men are created equal “. But today it is proven before your own eyes. Men want to compete in girls sports, no problem. Men want to sit beside little girls in the ladies restroom, why not. Time for us hard working decent, moral folks to get some entitlement funds before OPM ( other people’s money) runs dry. What a mess we’ve allowed and continue to allow happen. Lord help us.

One thing HBCUs are ridiculously light on is research.
The state does not maintain a system of segregation. These “HBCU” campuses go out of their way to ensure that their student population is overwhelmingly minority and stays that way.
Just another example of creating a problem and then crying victim.
