Entrepreneur, Veteran, African Immigrant Announces Republican Challenge to Gretchen Whitmer

An entrepreneur, Army veteran, and African immigrant is running as a Republican against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) in 2022.

Austin Chenge, 35, told The Kyle Olson Show this week that he moved to America after college to join his family, who immigrated to the state in 2008.

“When I began this campaign, it was because of the love that I have for this state. I couldn’t just stand by and let everything just fall apart without doing anything about it,” he said.

Chenge said he is “deeply conservative,” and cited the First and Second Amendments as things that need to be defended.

“Our American values are based on Judeo Christian principles. That’s not something anybody should be ashamed of,” he said.

Chenge charged that Whitmer bases her decisions on politics.

“She doesn’t care about the people of Michigan,” he said, adding the governor has “surrounded herself with a group of people who just say yes.” He said that was a “classic characteristic of a dictator.”

  1. Hmmmm… so he just came to America in 2008, on a visa? Then he of course must have applied for citizenship. I know a family who just gained citizenship two years ago. took them eleven years… That would make him a new citizen what, maybe last year? Something weird here, I’m just sayin’. Check his past in Africa (Notice he’s not from any specific country, region, tribe, city or anything, just “Africa”. Good luck!)

    1. It’s 2021…. subtract 2008 and you get….13. That’s a bit more than “last year”. And longer than the 11 years the family you reference.

    2. Well, I was going to say anything is better than the nut job that holds office now. But you are correct, remember the guy (2008 also)that hold us hostage for eight years before President Donald J. Trump steamroll the fat failed candidate.

  2. Did his family come here in ‘08 and he roll in sometime afterwards? We’re they here and he joined them in ‘08?
