Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan issued an emergency statement after multiple Republican lawmakers came forward and announced their plans to challenge the Electoral College certification on January 6.
Ryan blasted the Republican lawmakers who are choosing to defend President Donald Trump as he argued how “Joe Biden’s victory is entirely legitimate.”
All our basic rights and freedoms flow from a fidelity to the Constitution and the rule of law. This principle is not only fundamentally American but a central tenet of conservatism. Under our system, voters determine the president, and this self-governance cannot sustain itself if the whims of Congress replace the will of the people. I urge members to consider the precedent that it would set.
Efforts to reject the votes of the Electoral College and sow doubt about Joe Biden’s victory strike at the foundation of our republic. it is difficult to conceive of a more anti-democratic and anti-conservative act than a federal intervention to overturn the results of state-certified elections and disenfranchise millions of Americans. The fact that this effort will fail does not mean it will not do significant damage to American democracy.

I’ve pondered at times what it meant to be a Benedict Arnold when the body of a cause trusted you. I wondered what it would entail if I needed the folks who believed in me to take my word and actions for face value and then they find out my true colors. A sad day for the just and upright. What would it be like to be ostracized by all concerned?
Mostly, I wondered how I could find it within me to betray the Dead, who in the course of fighting for a cause, gave it all. These are the MOST wronged because of their patriotic deeds so others might have a better position in life.
I’m sincerely hurt because those like Ryan who are sh^&t, are now being portrayed as an honest statesman because the general public are so stupid they can’t recognize a trojan horse when they see one.
Whatever happens, Ryan will be, and go down in history as a rotten bastard whose mother doesn’t even claim him. Rightly so and good riddance to rotten garbage.
