Montgomery County police are using an interesting method to catch drivers they suspect of texting while behind the wheel.
The department placed an officer — disguised as a homeless man — at the intersection of River Road and Goldsboro Road in Bethesda. The officer, equipped with a wireless microphone, held a sign that read, “I am not homeless. I am a Montgomery County Police Officer looking for cell phone texting violations.”
When drivers pulled out their phones to text while waiting at the stop light, the disguised officer called to uniformed officers waiting nearby.
montgomery county md, one of the richest countys in maryland and also a sanctuary county,no surprise that the county is trying to make up lost income tax money in the midst of an pandemic by giving out tickets for any offense that will result in a fine and money for them. it`s sad that laws are only enforced based on how much money the county or state can collect from the violation in their time of need.
Whatever, how about keeping the stupid phone out of sight while under the wheel. People that use this device are as bad as a drunk drive. Worst in my humble opinion. A person with a buzz or glow most of the time know it and at least try to pay attention to the road.
That’s not illegal! One is NOT DRIVING when stopped at a light. Text all you want while stopped. When the light turns green and traffic starts moving, now you’re driving and have to stop texting. All those so ticketed should have their fines thrown out.
