Texas Prison Gang Leader Who Was Freed By Obama Arrested for Drug Trafficking… Again

A Texas prison gang leader who had his sentence commuted by Barack Obama, has been arrested for drug trafficking once again.

Hilario Nieto, 41, was one of eight men arrested in a massive federal drug trafficking bust.

Local, state, and federal law enforcement officials were all involved in the massive operation, leading to Nieto and seven others being charged with one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and heroin.

Breitbart reports that “a federal court sentenced Nieto to 248 months in prison in 2004 on drug charges. In 2016, prior to his scheduled release in 2021, then-President Obama commuted his sentence. The commutation became effective in August 2018. Less than one year later, Nieto allegedly returned to drug trafficking.”

“It is truly appalling that a man whose sentence the President previously commuted chose to flout that generous gift after being released from federal prison and resume gang-related drug dealing in the San Antonio community,” said U.S. Attorney Sofer.

  1. No real surprise here is there? That is precisely why we needed the wall and laws to keep re-offenders out of this country and prison fines if they are caught back here.
