Virginia Department of Veterans Services cancels public wreath laying ceremony at state veterans cemeteries

The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (VDVS) has canceled their annual public wreath laying event at the state’s veterans cemeteries in Amelia, Dublin and Suffolk due to COVID-19.

“We sincerely regret that we must cancel the public portion of the annual wreath laying ceremonies normally held each December at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, and the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk,” said John Maxwell, VDVS Commissioner. “Because of safety concerns, along with recent restrictions on gatherings of more than 25 persons enacted to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, members of the public will not be able to participate this year in laying memorial wreaths on each veteran’s gravesite.”

  1. Yeah, I wouldn’t want you to catch a cold for people that risk their life, and lost their life in battle, so you could have the choice not to honor them.

  2. This absolutely makes me sick!! You left wing lunatics want a war you’re about to get it! There’s no reason to disrespect those that afforded the very freedom you are abusing.

  3. obviously virginia doesn`t care about their veterans.
a lot of poor saps got drafted and torn away from their families against their will and died fighting in wars that they didn`t even volunteer to fight in,but the virginia dept of veterans services can`t be bothered to allow people to do something as simple as laying wreaths on graves because they might have a miniscule chance of catching a virus that 99.5% of people survive, how many of the dead veterans who were drafted had a 99.5% chance of surviving the war that they were forced to fight?
nobody volunteers to die of covid and many of these dead vets didn`t volunteer to be drafted and die in war either.
The government had no problem with drafting people and forcing them to die against their will, but the government now seems to have a problem with allowing dead veterans relatives placing wreaths on their graves?
