Americans will turn to booze, junk food to cope with election stress:

Pull the lever and pour a shot.

That’s what plenty of Americans plan on doing come Nov. 3, with a new poll finding that 65 percent of respondents harbor moderate to high stress over the presidential election — and more than a few will turn to liquid courage.

The Harris poll of 2,050 American adults, conducted online between Oct. 22 and Oct. 24, additionally found that 48 percent of respondents are more stressed about this election than ones in years past.

To help cope, 46 percent of respondents said they’d be noshing on junk food as the results roll in, with 42 percent saying pizza was in their future.

But some said they’d be hitting the bottle as the ballots roll in.

  1. Northwest Woodsman

Northwest Woodsman: If the media would announce the race of the victims and the perpetrators then everyone would realize that we do not have a gun problem, we have a negro problem. I’ll bet that a significant number of readers have yet to realize that at least 85 to 90% of the violence problems we have experienced over the years since 1964, have not associated race with violence. My highly intelligent spouse who is a conservative still does not want to admit that our violence problems come one race and that integration has been a total failure. Refute if you can but please use facts and void name calling.

    1. N.W., you hit it right on the head. I’ve noticed that for many years. Any thinking person can reflect and come up with the same conclusion, if they want to admit it.
