Deputy State’s Attorney for Wicomico County, William “Billy” McDermott, 35 years of age, of Girdletree,
Maryland, has been appointed by the Attorney General of The United States as a Federal Immigration Judge
assigned to the New York City Court effective March 28, 2021.
As the Deputy State’s Attorney for Wicomico County, Billy has worked on many important cases over the
last few years to include the Jameal Gould homicide trial, the Brendon Fields homicide case, the Jonathan
Megee homicide trial, the Barbara Pilchard animal abuse trial and the Salisbury University hate crime graffiti
case. Outside of the courtroom he has assisted in the creation of the Prosecution Integrity Unit, testified in
Annapolis on several pieces of important public safety related legislation and led the first annual Wicomico
County State’s Attorney Summer Camp for youth.
“We are incredibly excited and proud of Billy’s appointment. This may be the opportunity of a lifetime for
him and his family, and we know that our country will be well served by those qualities that will make him
an excellent judge”, said Jamie Dykes, State’s Attorney for Wicomico County.
“This is a bittersweet time for me. I am deeply saddened to be leaving such an incredible office with so many
talented public servants under the extraordinary leadership of Jamie Dykes. This office has become like home,
and the people who work here are family. I’m excited to serve in this new capacity, but my last day here may
well be one of the hardest of my life. The people of Wicomico County should know how blessed they are to
have such an amazing team in The Office of the State’s Attorney. Their work always goes on”, said Billy
McDermott.
Dykes will be totally lost in space with him gone. Refer to council meetings a time back when the sby police foiled the evidence room. When Billy and Dykes speak to council and you will see where the brains and decisions made in that department came from.

Another liberal Biden judge appointment. To be a true conservative as he claims takes tolerance and acceptance of others, Billy has non of these traits. I have never heard him speak well of anyone, tell the truth or accept personal responsibility. He lost the Pilchard horse case and many other juror trails, clearly not representing the will of the people. The citizens of Worcester had the sound judgement to vote him out of office in what should have been a shoe in for him. He would not fair well on any ballot. He was bullied in school and his parents took in foster children he has a chip on his shoulder. I really sad mean vindictive person to be chosen to pass judgment on others when he is clearly missing something inside himself. Good riddance. Sorry for the people of New York.
