Hogan Order Prevents Garnishment of New Federal Stimulus Payments

Gov. Larry Hogan on Monday issued an emergency order prohibiting garnishment of Economic Impact Payments provided under H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Read the governor’s order.

“For more than a year now, COVID-19 has caused incredible hardships for the people of our nation and our state,” said Hogan. “This funding is intended to support working families and struggling Marylanders, and we are committed to doing everything possible to protect this much-needed relief for those who need it most.”

The governor’s order provides that (1) American Rescue Plan Act Economic Impact Payments are exempt from, and shall not be subject to, garnishment; and (2) all financial institutions are ordered to consider these payments as protected and cannot be subject to a court-ordered garnishment.

  1. Fat boy telling the courts what they can or can’t do. What a piece of work this dude is. He is going nuts to be seen and heard because when he has to leave our mansion it is all over for him. The only way he will get his much desired attention would be to pay for it himself and not on OPM our dime. I for one can’t wait. I do apologize for giving you my vote sir. Never again.

  2. This will allow those losers to buy 60″ TVs and new 27″ Chrome Rims for their Blingillacs and Blingcolns!

  3. Pay your bills, live with in your means, don’t be a hog .you can’t drink Dom Perignon on a Kool aide bank account

  4. I presume that comrade Hogan has power over the IRS , ain’t it great , this guy is so predictable . Now we must focus on more gun control after the killings in Georgia .So called weapons of war(AR-15} WILL be the target.
If they want war , we will give them war .

  5. Hogan has already stated his intention to give EVERY STATE EMPLOYEE a $1000 check. Where did the money come from? The taxpayers that just received a “stimulus payment”. Isn’t that garnishing?
