Abdul El-Sayed, the progressive who just beat Rep. Haley Stevens in the Democratic primary, sat down on Jesse Watters Primetime Monday night and immediately showed voters exactly what kind of “healthcare freedom” he has in mind.
Watters asked the simple question every parent in Michigan should care about: “Sex change for minors. Do you support that?”
El-Sayed, a former public health official, reached for the classic progressive dodge. Government should not tell people what healthcare they can have. For minors, he said, it should be left to the child, the parents, and the doctor. He even tried to wrap it in the old “right to try” language conservatives once used for experimental cancer drugs.
Watters pressed harder. “So you think it’s okay for a parent to slash his kid’s ding-a-ling off?”
That is when El-Sayed went nuclear.
“Do you really want to have this conversation? Are you circumcised?”
He pressed again. “Jesse, are you?”
Watters, clearly taken aback, answered that yes, he was, but that it was a personal question. El-Sayed then suggested the host should want to move on, as if he had just scored some brilliant point.
